USM Welcomes Thaksin University Students for 3-Week Mobility Program

26 May 2025 - The School of Educational Studies (SES), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), marked the commencement of the Thaksin University Student Mobility Program with an opening ceremony today. The event was attended by Dr. Pittayatorn Kaewkon, Dean of the International College at Thaksin University, Mr. Budy Prastyo, and the ten participating students.

The three-week mobility program aims to provide students from Thaksin University with valuable exposure to TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) methodologies, cultural exchange activities, and community engagement in Malaysia.

During the ceremony, Dr. Siti Zuraidah Md Osman, Deputy Dean (Academic, Career & International) of SES extended a warm welcome to the delegation and provided an overview of SES’s role and offerings. Also present at the event were USM TESOL lecturers and student buddies, who will support and guide the visiting students throughout the program.

In addition to participating in selected TESOL courses and interacting with USM students, the students will engage in a variety of enriching activities. Scheduled activities include visits to the USM Museum and Museum of Archaeology, and the Penang Heritage Trail, among many others.

SES is confident that this mobility program will foster cross-cultural understanding and professional development among the participants, paving the way for future collaborations between Thaksin University and USM.
