SES, USM and Thaksin University Broaden Student Mobility Opportunities

25 February 2025 - A delegation from Thaksin University, led by the Dean of the International College, Dr. Pittayatorn Kaewkong, visited the School of Educational Studies (SES), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) to explore potential academic collaborations. The meeting, attended by the Dean of SES and TESOL lecturers, focused on fostering stronger international partnerships in student mobility, research, and faculty exchange.

Both institutions discussed opportunities for student mobility programs, including an international teaching practicum and a summer program in 2026, where 20 students from Thaksin University will participate in a 14-day academic and cultural exchange at USM. A short-term exchange program was also proposed, which will allow 10 students from Thaksin University to enrol in TESOL classes at USM for three weeks, providing them with an immersive learning experience. In addition, a long-term exchange program was considered for students interested in extended study opportunities in USM.

Beyond student mobility, the discussion also explored opportunities for collaborative research grants and a visiting lecturer program, allowing lecturers from both institutions to engage in academic exchanges and knowledge-sharing initiatives.

This meeting marks a significant step toward strengthening academic ties between USM and Thaksin University, fostering cross-border learning experiences, and enhancing international collaboration in education.
