THE INTERNATIONAL PROFESSORIAL TALK SERIES 2024 

Educational Leadership in Focus:
Exploring Content and Complex Dynamics 

The International Professorial Talk Series 2024, themed Educational Leadership in Focus: Exploring Content and Complex Dynamics, was successfully held on 07 November 2024, in the Aminah Ayob Auditorium at the School of Educational Studies. about 85 undergraduate and postgraduate students attended this event.

On behalf of the Dean of the School of Educational Studies, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thien Lei Mee welcomed the speakers and participants, encouraging active engagement throughout the session. She expressed hope that attendees would gain new insights, spark ideas, build academic connections, and strengthen their shared commitment to excellence in educational leadership.

The keynote address was delivered by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sedat Gumus from the Faculty of Education, Education University of Hong Kong. Dr. Gumus discussed The Nature and Effects of Instructional Leadership: Exploring the Role of Context, emphasizing how cultural norms, organizational structures, and educational policies interact to shape leadership dynamics. The invited speaker, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bity Salwana Alias from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, shared insights on the challenges and strategies of promoting value-based leadership. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thien presented on instructional leadership and teacher professional learning from a dynamic complexity perspective, while Dr. Aida Hanim A. Hamid explored culturally responsive leadership in education: building inclusive learning environments.

The second session was a research dialogue for participants to pose questions to the speakers. The constructive feedback from the speakers created an environment where knowledge was shared openly, examined critically, and applied meaningfully. The event concluded at 12:30 p.m.
