Associate Professor Dr. Nor Shafrin Ahmad

Nor Shafrin binti Ahmad is an Associate Professor in counseling psychology attached to School of Educational Studies, Universiti Sains Malaysia. She is specializing on crisis and trauma counseling, child and adolescent counseling, counselor education and mental health. She started as a guidance and counseling teacher in 1996 and now as a university lecturer and chairperson of Master in Counseling (Coursework) at the School of Educational Studies, USM. Her research interests currently are on child sexual abuse, anger management, crisis intervention, psychological trauma and mental health. In 2011 she developed Adolescent Anger Inventory (Inventori Marah Remaja-IMR), an instrument that helps identifying types of anger among adolescents. She also published several books including “Managing Counseling Services Record (2006 & 2011 – revised)” and “Victims of Sexual Abuse” (2012). Book entitled “Practical Application of Counselling Theory & Psychotherapy” (2013) won the 2014 National Book Award, best general book in counseling and psychotherapy category and USM’s award “Anugerah Sanggar Sanjung 2015” in book publication category. She also actively contributes chapters in several education-related books, writes articles for local and international journals, a life member of Malaysia Counselling Association International (PERKAMA Internasional), Psychological and Educational Counsellors of Asia-Pacific (APECA) and a registered and licensed counselor by Board of Counsellor, Malaysia.
